Welcome to the National Chairman’s BLOG

Today I made my first post! I thought it would be a bit of fun to do a BLOG, though it’s not easy to write in a fun way, perhaps I’ll improve with practice!

I was co-opted as National Chairman at the January NEC meeting, so I thought I should start my BLOG with that meeting.

To get a reasonably priced ticket I had to book a journey via Wigan setting off from Huddersfield on Friday at just after 7 o clock. And so I set off for Newent before dawn on Friday January 27th. I had to take the train to Wigan, where I had to take a short walk across the road to the other Wigan station to pick up the Virgin Train to Cheltenham Spa. It seemed strange going North to catch a train to travel South.

The Journey was fairly uneventful, I spent it listening to my MP3 player. When the train arrived at Cheltenham Spa I was asleep, luckily I woke before it took me off to Bristol. Then it was a fairly short train ride to Gloucester where I caught the bus to Newent.

I arrived at the office at about 11:30. The meeting with the Insurance Representative was still in progress, though I didn’t catch enough of it to contribute much. Francis and Adrian had arrived earlier to conduct the meeting which I understand resulted in very positive outcomes.

Later we had a meeting with the staff, and afterwards I asked Christine if there was an old fashioned tailor’s shop in Newent as I wanted to buy a new hat. There wasn’t, but there was a country shop that might have something, and sure enough it did, an Australian bushman’s hat in leather.

Adam had booked a Magician for Brean who he said was my double.

Steve bravely stood as Deputy National Chairman.

Watch this space for more on the NEC meeting . . . . .
