NEC meeting – Not in the Chair
As arranged I caught the early train to Sheffield to meet up with Matthew and head for the Plus NEC meeting.
There was a delay at Birmingham so we were about half an hour late, but we hadn’t missed much of the meeting as Adrian had started later.
It was strange going in to the meeting knowing I wouldn’t be the Chairman, though I soon got the hang of participating.
I sat next to Francis as we’d planned a presentation for the Health & Safety policies and procedures. I started by stating briefly why these had been drawn up and then went into answering the e-mail questions and points raised prior to the meeting, when I got to Joe’s he interrupted and read them himself. Joe’s main objection was the “fiduciary conflict of interest” which we stated didn’t apply as we had not included the insurance companies recommendations. We did agree that independent advice would be sought on the documents which were adopted by the NEC for review following receipt of the independent advice.
After the meeting we went for a pub meal that was very pleasant. Mark gave Matthew and I lift back to the railway station.
